Caring for the Elderly and Vulnerable within the Community

About us

An Award-winning day care Centre of over 28 years that is led and run by a strong volunteer and community team who brings vulnerable beneficiaries from our migrant communities together.  The majority have a mental and/or a physical disability are aged between 65 and 98.  Most are frail, vulnerable, isolated, with majority living alone and have No family members to support and so we encourage independent living, create safe resilient support networks from their peers.  Contributing to Community cohesion which helps beneficiaries be more resilient, independent, less isolated, more active, healthy, socialising with different cultures.  Positive outcomes in improving mental, Physical & Mental health Wellbeing through Exercise-Crafts-Health awareness sessions e.g.- Diabetes-Welfare-Advocacy & Home Visiting to ‘Shut Ins’.  Ensuring the vulnerable eat healthily which overall enables them to live alone- in their homes longer and taking pressure off the NHS.

Also Hosting a Seasonal Youth Creation Youth Club for 6–14-year-olds. Offering Mental & Physical stimulation, encourage social participation, Outdoor activities – fresh air- no gadgets – healthy lunch.

What we do

The main purpose is to reduce social isolation, giving carers respite, bringing different communities together, ensuring the BME service users have a healthy hot meal and are kept connected with a primary care referral to professional services and health awareness sessions/initiatives.

How we do this:

Our planned comprehensive programme of activities, including the provision of freshly prepared hot healthy cultural meals are available for all our vulnerable service users and a Meals-on-Wheels service to Shut-in’s.

Tuesday’s and Thursday’s Service Day, Accessible transport is available for door-to-door collection & drop off.  Coffee Morning, Weekly Home Visiting, and a Befriending service to the isolated.

Grocery and prescription/medication collection service.  Support for Medical appointments

Activities include:  Weekly Exercise, Bingo, Crafts such as card making, tiling, flower arranging etc.   Beat-IT Drumming & Musical therapy for stimulation.  Social outings to beautiful gardens, restaurants, Educational and Seaside outings.

Health awareness sessions are available once a week on topics such as Diabetes, Dementia, Healthy eating, Cancer, welfare rights and access and basic Digital introduction and many more.

What we don’t do:

Services users need to be able to independently eat, walk (anyone with a mobility aid is welcome) and use the WC.
